229-231<span style="font-size:14.0pt;line-height: 115%;font-family:" times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"times="" roman";="" color:black;mso-ansi-language:en-in;mso-fareast-language:en-in;mso-bidi-language:="" hi"="" lang="EN-IN">Twenty 6-arylazo-5-hydroxyquinolino-[2 ,1-b]-quinazolin-12(H)-ones (Va-t) were prepared by coupling 5-hydroxyquinolino[2,1-b]-quinazolin-12(H)-one (III) with various diazo components (IVa-t) . The compound III was prepared by the condensation of 2-methyl-1 ,3-benzoxazin -8-one (I) with anthranilic acid, giving initially 2-methyl-3-[l-carboxyphenyl]-4-oxoquinazoline (II) followed by the ring closure. The compounds Va-t were characterized by element al and spectral analyses and their dyeing performance on polyester fibre was assessed. These compounds, when applied on polyester fibres, gave orange, brown and yellow shades with poor to good light fastness, very good to excellent wash fastness and poor to excellent exhaustion .
